But I liked how dangerous it felt at the beginning, and by the end of the game I knew my way around and was just running through wrecking lute players. I went a while before finding the little castle which is actually the hub, which is a bit bizarre that you could potentially get lost somewhere before even finding that and figuring out what’s going on. The main swamp area I also got completely lost in but I kinda liked that. your perspective is that the twist just made it worse, which is a fair view. Overall, I feel like if this game would have been a dark souls clone with NO twist on the gameplay, it would be crucified even more. And you always have harden which was cool and made the need for immediate healing Less of a necessity. It’s a ‘different’ mechanic that you have to be aware of, you need to anticipate how you’re going to use healing items knowing that they take time. The mushrooms and roasted rats as healing: I didn’t think this was bad. And it has made me interested in more of these types of games. I can see the frustrations but I thought it was a lot of fun and I loved it. I also just finished this, but I have little to no souls experience - only played Bloodborne. Play this if you have time to spare and can deal with a few bs otherwise hard pass. Tl dr:One of the boss looks like it's an asset flip 3d figure lol. Also the archers in this game should participate in their version of Olympics cuz they can even hit you without having no line of sight. It requires you to complete a no hit run basically to unlock it. The achievements of this game is also stupid. There is however a few good mechanics like the harden which acts as a temporary invulnerability that is on a timer and you get 2 deaths before you see the game over screen.

By the time you hit an enemy you might go and make yourself a sandwich. There is a mace weapon and it's one of the worst weapons I have ever seen in my life put in a game. Your weapons swings like it's a 60lbs dumbbell. The dodging does give some good iframes but since the combat is "realistic" It takes time to pull off any move. Then there are some enemies which literally have less than a few frames of animation. I was laughing my ass out at how awful can a game design be. There are frogs which will immediately poison you on impact and the item you need to fix that also poisons you until you reach max familiarity with the item. The healing items in this game works like bloodborne but wait it doesn't heal you all at once, it heals you incrementally over a period of time. It commits the cardinal sin of trying to "fix" the tried and true souls formula. This is one of the most mixed bag games I have ever played. Now coming into the meat and potatoes of the game, the gameplay. The weapon animations are beautiful in their rights and it just works. The game aesthetically is beautiful, it's dark, gloomy and grimy. What kind of shitty level design is that. Every area looks the same and without any guide of some kind it's almost impossible to find your way around. Gameplay and Graphics and Level Design-I just wanna start by saying the main hub area of this game straight up sucks ass. I was interested in the aesthetics itself and in that respect I am not disappointed. I honestly didn't get the story and tbh I didnt try to get into it even. Story-I don't know who I am, I don't know where I am.

I am a big fan of soulslikes and I am a pretty decent player given the time to learn the mechanics but damn this game made me uninstall the game today because of how stupidly weird this game is. I recently completed Mortal Shell and this is one of the most artificially difficult games I have ever played.
